Dr. Roopa P Nayak, MBBS, MD Pharmacology — Professor and former Head, Department of Pharmacology, Yenepoya Medical College, Mangalore
Dr. Roopa P Nayak is a passionate academician, researcher, and educator in the field of Pharmacology with more than two and a half decades of dedicated teaching experience. She serves as Professor and former Head of the Department of Pharmacology at Yenepoya Medical College, Mangalore, where she has made significant contributions to pharmacology education, research, and academic
leadership.
She previously served as the Chairman of the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee at YMC (2016–2021) and currently serves as the Main Nominee appointed by the Committee for Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA),
Government of India, for several institutions in the region. She is also the Chairman of the Institutional Ethics Committee at a reputed institution in Mangalore.
Dr. Nayak plays a key role in pharmacovigilance activities as the Coordinator of the Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Centre at Yenepoya Medical College under the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India. She currently also heads the Scientific Review Board at YMC and was presented with the "Teacher of the Year Award 2023" by the Yenepoya Centre for Faculty Development. The Department of Pharmacology also received the best department award for academic excellence during her tenure as Head of the Department.
She has guided several postgraduates and doctoral scholars and has been a subject expert in curriculum development cells and boards of studies of other universities. With her strong commitment to teaching and academic excellence, she continues to inspire students and young researchers. As an author, she brings her vast experience in pharmacology and medical education to this textbook, making it a valuable resource for students.
